Due to furloughs, Georgia Southern University will be closed throughout the Thanksgiving holiday.

“The campus will be closed for the entire week next week for furlough, which is Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and for the Thanksgiving holiday, which is Thursday and Friday” said Marjorie Gay, a library assistant at Henderson Library.

Also, according to Auxiliary Services, all dining services, such as Lakeside and Landrum will be closed beginning Saturday. “None of the dining services will be open,” said Allison Harper, a student worker for Auxiliary Services. “Meal plans don’t even work during the break.”

The majority of the campus will close Saturday and reopen again next weekend for returning students.

The operational hours for campus throughout the holiday week are as follows:

• Henderson Library will be open for students Saturday, November 21 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, November 22 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. It will be closed Monday through Friday, November 23 through November 27 and will reopen Saturday, November 28 from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. On Sunday, November 29, the library opens with regular hours.

• The Russell Union will be open Saturday, November 21 for Open House until 5 p.m. and will be closed Sunday, November 22 through Sunday, November 29. The Russell Union will reopen with regular hours for students on Monday, November 30.

• All dining services on campus will be closed from Saturday, November 21 through Sunday, November 29. The dining services will reopen for students on Monday, November 30 with normal hours.

• The RAC will be closed Saturday, November 21 through Saturday, November 28. The RAC will reopen again for students on Sunday, November 29 with normal hours.
