Captain Scott Brunson of the Statesboro Police Department said that police are working on approximately five new leads in regard to the armed robberies that took place in late October.  He said that, while no new arrests have been made, police are investigating every tip they recieve.

The most recent information has led police to believe that the robberies were probably not perpetrated by students, according to Brunson.  He also said that the recent release of photographs and the media attention have been extremely helpful in persuading individuals with information to come forward.

He encourages anyone with potential information to alert either the Statesboro PD or GSU police and added that the reward money is still available for information that leads to an arrest in the case.

Major Laura McCullough with GSU police said that there have not been any new crimes reported since the robberies at the Pointe at Southern on Oct. 20 and at Campus Crossings on Oct. 28.  She also said that the GSU and Statesboro Police Departments are working together to solve these cases.

No arrests have been made so far.

Students with information are encouraged to call either the GSU police at (912) 478-5234 or Capt. Brunson with the Statesboro PD at (912) 212-2301.
